Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital offers comprehensive radiology services including diagnostics, nuclear imaging, interventional procedures and radiation oncology. Diagnostic imaging, such as ultrasound, X-ray, MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), and CT (computed tomography), help physicians diagnose or better understand certain conditions. Our experienced radiologists read and interpret images to offer additional diagnostic information to primary care or other referring physicians. By joining the team as a Radiology Assistant, you will work alongside Radiology Techs, moving and transporting patients, performing room turnovers and transport patients, and providing any additional assistance they may need. This is a great opportunity to hone skills, especially for students in a radiology program. All your work will help set the tone with the patient for their visit to the department.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of related experience in a physician office, hospital or clinical setting involving patient care or customer service

Responsibilities

  • Provide a wide variety of services and assistance to patients and visitors of all ages.
  • Greet patients and families upon arrival at the radiology area.
  • Escort patients to the appropriate room and assist patients with putting on a gown and moving on/off the table.
  • Ensure physical comfort and safety of the patient at all times.
  • Assure x-ray rooms are clean and equipped with appropriate supplies and equipment for each patient.
  • Observe patients for medical status and potential need of nursing care, physician care, oxygen or other care and quickly obtain proper assistance .
  • Review x-ray requisition and computer exam forms to determine the type of x-ray .
  • Place transport orders from radiology to floors and units.
  • Process orders in the radiology information system, including scheduling, tracking exams and films.
  • Process downtime and transport orders.
  • Take films to the appropriate area for film library processing and deliver films to requesting areas.
  • Transport specimens to the lab for processing.
