About The Position

Assists technologists with tasks necessary for the general management and organization of the department, being flexible, meeting patient and/or department needs while ensuring all Radiology safety protocols are followed. Performs direct and indirect patient care as determined/delegated by a licensed technologist or nurse and facilitates the safe transport of patients to and from their respective units.

Requirements

  • One year patient care experience preferred
  • Basic Computer skills required
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service and communication skills
  • EDUCATION:
  • LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
  • R - Radiography - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), RT(R) - Registered Radiologic Technologist - New York State Education Department (NYSED)
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • H - Heavy Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires constant walking, standing or squatting.
  • For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Stock room appropriately while rotating supplies based on expiration dates, including Emergency response equipment
  • Ensures that all regulatory logs are completed daily
  • Uses team effort to accomplish room turnover within acceptable timeframes. Primarily responsible for the cleanliness and safety of the environment for staff and patients.
  • Safely and efficiently transports patients to and from the department in a safe manner, according to hospital standards.
  • Assists with the ambulation, transferring, or lifting of patients
  • Performs clerical duties, including filing, faxing, and scanning documents.
  • Answers and returns phone calls, completes safety screening forms/history forms, and communicates with the care team as needed.
  • Provides safe and competent care for patients with a relationship to elimination & hygiene needs, including bathing and changing bed linens as needed, while the patient is in the Radiology department.
  • Demonstrates compassion and any other kind of support needed for the patient and the patient's family members
  • Demonstrates the mission and values of the organization
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
