SUMMARY: Prepare patients for exams and transport patients to and from various modalities. Prepare rooms for procedures and process films, and CD’s. Assist radiologists and technologists in procedures by moving patients and obtaining supplies and equipment. Optimize patient throughput by adjusting schedules, retrieving protocols, orders and requisitions from referring physicians. Receives, unloads x-ray cassettes, and processes films, as necessary. Demonstrates ability to select correct patient ID and exam from Worklist Manager. Assists physicians in locating images within RIS, file rooms and PAC’s Workstations. Cleans film cassettes and logs actively. Processes images through the CR units. Prepares patients for fluoroscopic studies, i.e., upper GI’s and lower bowel series, CT Radiology X-ray - Instructs patient on gowning - Explains procedure - Sets up supplies needed by technologist Prepares and sets up Radiology room for procedures - Assists technologists to set up sterile trays for procedure Assists technologists during procedure, as needed and instructed, including moving patients and obtaining supplies and equipment. Transports patients within the Diagnostic Imaging Department and to/from the Emergency Department or Floors if necessary. Maintains cleanliness of radiological rooms and patient changing rooms. Stocks women and men’s changing rooms daily. Processes patient information in RIS system, including verifying exams, adding and canceling appropriate exam charges. Understands &changes information in Physician Order Management System regarding orders. Confirms patient flow stays in contact with patients regarding appointment times. Any other duties defined by the modality lead tech or chief tech Obtains protocols for patient’s, BUN/Creatinine levels for CT examinations. Prepares patients prior to CT, mammography, radiologic and MRI exams by changing clothes. Performs other related functions as required.
