About The Position

Contentnea Health is a Community Health Center providing comprehensive medical, dental and behavioral health services for members of our communities in Greene, Pitt and Pamlico counties in eastern North Carolina. Performs diagnostic radiography and screening mammography, oversees radiologic operations within medical department, and assists in patient care.

Requirements

  • Current registration in Radiography and Mammography in good standing with The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic radiographic imaging and screening mammography.
  • Receives orders from medical practitioner and verifies appropriateness.
  • Prepares patient for imaging.
  • Assesses potential patient limitations for the procedure.
  • Obtains informed consent.
  • Directs completion of necessary forms.
  • Coordinates pregnancy testing when indicated.
  • Positions patient for procedure.
  • Ensures restricted access to controlled area.
  • Completes radiographic procedure or mammogram.
  • Sends order, image(s), and patient demographics to contracted radiologist services.
  • Documents procedure in patient’s EHR.
  • Tracks receipt of imaging report and ensures follow-up appointments are scheduled for abnormal mammogram findings.
  • Updates breast cancer screening data in patient’s EHR.
  • Under the direction of practitioner, informs patients of test results.
  • Serves as liaison for contracted radiologist services.
  • Updates radiology manuals and provides input for policies and procedures.
  • Confirms that equipment performance, maintenance and operation comply with the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Performs weekly QI testing of mammography machine per FDA and state regulations.
  • Oversees annual physicist inspection.
  • Participates in annual audit for mammography.
  • Oversees and performs accreditation of mammography every three years.
  • Performs venipuncture and point-of-care testing, with orders.
  • Starts, maintains, and removes intravenous access, with orders.
  • Administers medications, with orders.
  • Assists in identifying and responding to emergency situations.
