About The Position

A Per-Diem Radiation therapist is responsible for administering radiation treatments to patients as prescribed by the radiation oncologist. They will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient care and treatment delivery.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiation Therapy Technology required
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technology and CPR (BLS) Certification required.
  • Sitting, standing walking, carrying, pushing/pulling, agility (bending, stooping, twisting crouching, kneeling, turning), dexterity (handling fingering, reaching) plus Frequently Heavy lifting up to 100 lbs. max., lifting/carrying up to 50lbs.
  • Visual Requirements: near vision, depth perception, and extensive exposure to VDT’s (video display terminals).
  • Hearing Requirements: Ability to hear normal conversation, telephone communication, hear low voice volumes, whispers.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate positioning and proper delivery of radiation treatments as prescribed by the radiation oncologist, utilizing image verification via portal films, Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) and/or Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) to document radiation placement and accuracy thus ensuring high quality patient care.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, treatment documentation and appointment schedules via the radiation oncology computer system according to guidelines developed by the chief radiation therapist, thus ensuring efficient patient throughput.
  • Perform CT simulations on patients as prescribed by the radiation oncologist for treatment planning purposes.
  • Document all CT simulation and treatment data in the patient’s EMR (electronic medical record) to ensure compliance with the radiation oncologist’s CT order and/or treatment prescription.
  • Maintain all treatment planning (CT simulation) and daily radiation treatment charge captures with accuracy via the department/hospital computer system.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Maintain daily statistics for review by the chief radiation therapist and administrative personnel to assist in budgetary planning for ongoing and future department expenditures.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best patient outcomes.
  • Provide support and care to patients throughout the radiation therapy process.
