About The Position

The Department of Radiation Oncology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) in Boston, Massachusetts, is actively seeking full-time Radiation Oncology faculty members with interest/expertise in cutaneous radiation oncology. As a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, BIDMC and the Department of Radiation Oncology provide a clinically advanced and supportive academic environment for residents, fellows, and faculty. The department is also an integral part of a landmark collaboration among Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) to establish New England’s only freestanding adult inpatient cancer hospital, offering unparalleled opportunities for radiation oncology and other physician specialties. As Cutaneous Disease Site Leader, this individual will provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for the cutaneous oncology program across the department and multidisciplinary teams. They will serve as the primary representative and advocate for the disease site, partnering with departmental leadership and multidisciplinary colleagues to advance coordinated, high-quality patient care. The leader will help define and execute the program’s strategic vision; guide clinical growth and program development; and drive performance against key clinical, operational, and quality goals. They will actively contribute to departmental decision-making and ensure continuous improvement in patient outcomes, access, and experience. The Cutaneous Disease Site Leader will represent the disease site in the department’s ongoing development within the new freestanding adult inpatient cancer hospital, ensuring cutaneous oncology priorities are fully integrated into clinical planning, operational design, and care model innovation. Additionally, the leader will work with their team to establish the research direction of the group, including clinical trials, translational research, and outcomes research. Responsibilities will include clinical care with a focus on cutaneous radiation oncology, teaching, and research activity at the Main Campus in Boston, with an academic appointment at Harvard Medical School at the rank of Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor to be determined based on experience and qualifications. This role is an employment model position in Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Following regulatory approval, successful candidates will also provide clinical care at DFCI.

Requirements

  • Board Certification in Radiation Oncology/eligibility within one year of employment
  • Individual Federal DEA
  • Massachusetts Medical License
  • MA Controlled Substance Registration

Responsibilities

  • Work with members of their team to establish the research direction of the group, including but not limited to clinical trials, translational research, and outcomes research.
  • Provide clinical care with a focus on cutaneous radiation oncology.
  • Engage in teaching and research activity at the Main Campus in Boston.
  • Provide clinical care at DFCI (following regulatory approval).
