About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Radar Planner/Controller to support the Space Force Range contract. Key Responsibilities Analyze, plan, review, revise and develop technical documentation for the Planning and Launch Support team required to meet customer daily and mission support configuration requirements Develop Operational support plans, operational directives and test plans for evaluation of new and existing Radar systems. Evaluate current Radar equipment capability to comply with existing and future range customer and range safety requirements. Review open System Access Authorizations (SAA) for system readiness changes and impacts to planning efforts to meet launch and operational requirements. Review Operational Acceptance Recommendations (OAR) and Operational Acceptance Memorandum (OAM) for system readiness changes and impacts to planning efforts to meet launch and operational requirements. Recommend changes to improve the quality or quantity of data by way of a more efficient use of range systems or facilities. Coordinate and review processes related to Operating Instructions, System Operational documents, procedures, and operating instructions. Propose alternate methods of obtaining coverage when requirements are beyond the capability of the existing instrumentation. Review range schedules in advance to ensure required instrumentation and customer requirements can be met for the respective Range system. Conduct pre-test briefings and post-test critiques. Provide documentation and real-time work center coordination, systems controller support during launch tests, simulations and non-test periods and ensure that all sites understand procedures during tests and simulations. Review test support documentation and system requirements to ensure appropriate system status calls and that the correct response priority is provided to system personnel. Report systems status during launch operations and Mission Rehearsals. Recommend and implement approved changes to operating procedures or methods to improve data quality and performance for future tests. Prepare ADHOC reports and procedures. Provide System Controller function associated with documenting known or suspected systems failures, assign appropriate resources to investigate/repair failure when required, and ensure all actions are documented professionally and timely in accordance with company requirements. Monitor performance and status of all systems during on-console activities including daily, pre-launch and launch activities. Develop and present concise, well-organized briefings to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences

Requirements

  • A.S. degree in electronics or equivalent combination of military and/or experience and education.
  • Four years of experience as a Systems Controller supporting the Launch Controller position or two years as a Sr. Systems Controller or ten years’ experience in Radar Systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to be decisive and make sound decisions under demanding time constraints, often with incomplete information, to prevent compromise of safety and mission assurance performance.
  • Develop and present concise, well-organized briefings to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences
  • Extensive knowledge of Radar Instrumentation preferred.
  • Ability to articulate how Range Radar System capabilities, limitations and configurations affect mission planning and execution
  • Ability to successfully multitask and monitor and control multiple voice communications channels simultaneously and provide clear and accurate technical direction to an array of system controllers without delay
  • Ability to be decisive and make sound decisions under demanding time constraints, often with incomplete information, to prevent compromise of safety and mission assurance performance
  • Ability to work in a support role supporting management and team members
  • Ability to prioritize and organize own work to meet agreed upon deadlines
  • The flexibility to work non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project and operational requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License
  • Working knowledge of engineering and electronic theory
