About The Position

This position involves transporting patients and related items safely and efficiently throughout the facility. The assistant will support Radiologists and Technologists during various radiology exams and procedures across different modalities. Key aspects of the role include maintaining patient confidentiality, communicating professionally with staff, patients, and visitors, and working both independently and as part of a team, often receiving direction by phone. The role also requires maintaining a clean, organized, and stocked work area, and properly storing equipment and supplies. The work schedule involves varied shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Additional duties include assisting with invasive and non-invasive procedures, removing IVs, preparing sterile trays, and handling, transferring, and transporting specimens.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or G.E.D Equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Telephone and human relation skills to interact with patients, guests and staff
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to unpredictable situations
  • Ability to complete the Mayo Clinic's New Employee Orientation and General Systems Training
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Ability to lift more than 50 pounds with assistance
  • Physically able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time
  • Requires upper and lower physical strength to be able to manage the pushing and pulling of stretchers with and without patients occupying them
  • Successful completion of a BLS course within the first 6 months of employment
  • Completion of the Communications in Healthcare class within the first year of employment
