About The Position

Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Clockers are responsible for timing workouts for Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses during training hours by performing the following duties: Available in the Clockers’ Stand during training hours each day to time Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses working out. Coordinates with Outriders, Starter, Trainers, Assistant Trainers, Jockey Agents, Exercise Riders and Gap Attendants in correctly identifying each Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse that works. Provides a detailed sheet of workouts following training hours, including the distance and intensity of the work, as well as if the work was performed breaking from the Starting Gate. Enters the work tab into Equibase; posts work tab for the horsemen and public. Will abide by all safety requirements as outlined in the Safety Manual and/or as required by individual departments and job functions. All other duties assigned by management. Qualifications High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess strong communication skills, be flexible and detail oriented. Ability to read and write; basic computer knowledge; active listening skills; ability to meet goals and deadlines; and knowledge of Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing terms. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Be proficient with a stopwatch and the ability to handle multiple sets of workouts; deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be able to obtain an Indiana Horse Racing Commission license. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job at a Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing facility. Horseshoe Indianapolis is a smoking establishment, therefore must be able to work in a smoking environment. Must be able to work in a highly populated, fast-paced, and noisy environment. Must be able to work in an environment subject to cold and/or hot temperatures, rain, wind, sun, dust, animals, insects, etc.

Requirements
