Your Role at Baxter As an intern on Baxter’s Advanced Surgery team, you will play a meaningful role in supporting innovative solutions that help clinicians deliver life‑saving care. Your work will contribute directly to improving products focused on wound hemostasis, tissue sealing, and other specialty surgical procedures. Throughout the program, you will engage in hands‑on project work designed to give you a realistic preview of what a full‑time role at Baxter looks like, while making an impact on real development and process optimization initiatives. You will be paired with a mentor, supported by your manager, and connected to a community of Baxter employees who are committed to helping you learn, grow, and succeed. Your Team You will join a dynamic team dedicated to advancing surgical technologies and improving patient outcomes. The Advanced Surgery team focuses on finding new ways to simplify operating‑room workflows, enhance product performance, and optimize manufacturing processes. As part of this collaborative environment, you will contribute ideas, develop solutions, and participate in meaningful work that supports Baxter’s mission to save and sustain lives.

Requirements

  • Strong academic performance with a GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in one of the following fields: Biomedical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Chemical Engineering Organic or Analytical Chemistry
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and strong problem‑solving skills.
  • A positive, team‑oriented attitude with the ability to adapt to change and collaborate effectively.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.

  • Active involvement in campus or community organizations preferred, especially in leadership roles.

Responsibilities

  • Perform standard analytical testing assignments using defined methods, techniques, and established SOPs.
  • Apply sound scientific and engineering techniques to solve problems and make design recommendations under the guidance of a mentor.
  • Contribute ideas and suggestions that support design or process improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in project work that may influence future product development or manufacturing optimization efforts.
  • Gain exposure to Baxter’s culture, technical teams, and cross‑functional processes through hands‑on work experience.
