About The Position

You will identify and validate molecular targets that play a key role in plant pathology, yield, and nutrition. Also, you will analyze and identify the biological, chemical, and genetic properties of plants. Additionally, you will study molecular biology, cell biology, plant genetics, plant physiology, biochemistry, and/or microbiology as input to the discovery of new plant cultivars or agricultural methods. Finally, you will conduct research on insect neurochemistry and pheromones for pest control.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Strong molecular biology acumen with the ability to independently design experiments and analyze data
  • Demonstrated experience with DNA extraction, RNA extraction, qPCR/TaqMan, and/or next-generation sequencing library creation
  • High-throughput laboratory automation experience with mechanical aptitude for operating and troubleshooting automation
  • Proficiency with data analysis and visualization software
  • High level of agility to support multiple workflows within the workflow excellence and quality team and across the Precision Genomics program
  • Ability to build strong relationships and networks across shifts, sub-teams, and sites
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with a drive for high-quality deliverables and continuous improvement

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field with 2 years of related experience in academia or industry
  • Master’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
  • High School Diploma with 10 years of relevant experience

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with workflow excellence and quality-focused team members of Precision Genomics to deliver proficiency testing kits and validation materials
  • Execute experiments to uncover root cause of issues and leverage technical knowledge to optimize workflows in a fast-paced genotyping and genomics environment
  • Complete various genotyping and/or genomics lab experiments and processes (e.g., proficiency testing, sample management) in alignment with the weekly work queue and team priorities
  • Organize, analyze, and report experimental results, production KPIs, cost/benefit analyses, and lab-related issues to partners and key stakeholders
  • Prioritize and coordinate work within a large team, provide training to contingent workforce, and maintain detailed record keeping and required documentation
  • Achieve strong commitment to safety, compliance, and stewardship through adherence to protocols, robust documentation, and best practices
  • Hold primary or shared responsibility for specialized laboratory technologies, including operating and troubleshooting instrumentation, validating methods using multiple data sources, and optimizing workflows
  • Collaborate closely with hub specialists, scientists, and functional spaces within Precision Genomics, as well as internal and external partners, to support system health, improvements, and data return discussions across sites
