About The Position

Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment VISA for this position at this time We will consider qualified applicants of all ages who are starting (or restarting) their careers As a R&D Software Engineering Intern, you will be assisting with the design and development of a variety of Capital Equipment’s for various divisions within Boston Scientific. These Capital Equipment’s are used in the diagnosis and treatments of different medical conditions. This includes technologies that are used to visualize & treat kidney stones (Urology division), RF Ablation for Pain Management (Neurology division), Peripheral Clot treatment and removal (PI Division), telemetry communication devices and patient monitoring of implanted heart devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators (CRM division). EME provides devices and therapies for a patient’s entire continuum of care, from diagnostic to treatment. This division strives to innovate and create a paradigm shift that can solve unmet clinical needs and change what is possible for patients.

Requirements

  • Must graduate between Dec 2026 - May 2028
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or Master’s degree majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering (with software skills)
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization
  • Must be able to commit to one of the following full-time internship periods (12 weeks, 40 hours per week): May 18 – August 7 or May 26 – August 14.
  • Must have reliable transportation to/from the Arden Hills, MN Boston Scientific corporate work location. Boston Scientific is not responsible for employees’ transportation to/from work.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to develop software solutions as well as tools that support medical device Capital Equipment development
  • Contribute to embedded firmware and Software design and implementation for various capital Equipment projects
  • Develop and maintain software using C++, C#, and Python to support diagnostics, monitoring, and treatment workflows
  • Take initiative in identifying and solving technical challenges related to device functionality, data flow, and system integration
  • Ensure engineering solutions align with clinical needs, regulatory standards, and patient safety requirements
  • Participate in Agile development processes
