Join the power movement as an R D Operational Testing Lead The lead test operator position is an integral part of the CFS team responsible for testing our critical superconducting magnets and maintaining the test stand in which they are tested. You will have the opportunity to work within a fast-paced, exciting atmosphere to help the team meet the global necessity for clean energy. In this role you will lead a team of operators and perform hands-on work to prioritize daily shift operations to maintain high throughput in test by executing tests, successfully performing preventative maintenance to ensure the production test stands remain operational, building out new test stand hardware, and seeking out opportunities to continuously improve the efficiency of the test stand operation. Responsibilities include build, servicing and repair of cryogenic, electrical, high-vacuum and or chilled water systems as well as on-console operation of the test stands in support of magnet performance verification. This role will lead the way to making Earth sustainable for the future to come.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/equivalency certificate or higher
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a formal leadership role in a manufacturing setting
  • Minimum of 5+ years experience with various hand tools
  • Mechanical, High-Vacuum, Cryogenic, Electrical systems maintenance and/or assembly
  • Commitment to safety and quality with the ability to communicate this to your team
  • Strong level of accountability for yourself and your team
  • Ability to lead a team and give clear and precise direction
  • Ability to take directions from supervisors and work independently
  • Desire to work and contribute in a fast-paced, environment with daily changes
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) to your team, including daily and weekly goals
  • Meticulous attention to detail and cleanliness with hands-on work
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
  • Perform activities such as typing, stooping, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time
  • Willingness to travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call occasionally
  • Dedication to safety to mitigate industrial hazards that may include heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, and cryogenics

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of operators executing tests on superconducting magnets and maintaining the test stand
  • Identify and lead safety improvements related to the design, processes, and operation of the test stands
  • Perform test operations and ensure rigorous team adherence to procedures, specifications, and test instructions process to maximize test throughput and minimize rework
  • Build, operate and maintain high-powered, cryogenic, high-vacuum, magnet test equipment
  • Track changes to the configuration of the test stand by documenting the work completed
  • Troubleshoot and resolve test stand issues - focusing on continuous improvement
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team to develop and qualify new operating techniques and processes
  • Use various mechanical and precision calibrated tools such as torque wrenches, wrenches, allen keys, micrometers, and calipers
  • Read and interpret assembly drawings, wiring diagrams and detailed work instructions
  • Communicate challenges and ideas effectively to peers and leadership
  • Perform other related job duties, as assigned by management
  • Identify problems in a product and make clear recommendations to better the process
  • Display great attention to detail and a sound understanding of what makes a good product
