Job Title R&D Mechanical Design Intern We are seeking a detail oriented, innovative and aspiring Mechanical Engineer Intern to support the design, development, and documentation of mechanical components, fixtures, and prototype solutions. This role involves creating 3D models and drawings in SolidWorks, supporting basic mechanical design tasks, producing prototypes, and organizing engineering data within structured databases. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience with CAD tools, and a willingness to engage in hands on prototyping and iterative design. Roles and Responsibilities: As a Mechanical Engineer Intern, you will support and contribute to engineering activities across design, prototyping, and documentation. Responsibilities may include: Create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks. Assist in basic mechanical design tasks such as concept development, part layout, and design reviews. Produce prototype components through 3D printing/additive manufacturing and evaluate printed parts for accuracy, fit, and function. Transform prototypes into usable production ready solutions. Maintain organized CAD data, drawings, revision histories, and engineering databases. Support the creation and improvement of design standards, templates, and document workflows. Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and cross‑functional teams to deliver effective mechanical solutions. Perform fit checks, prototype evaluations, and iterative modifications as needed. Prepare technical summaries, documentation, and presentations outlining design work and project progress. Education: Bachelor’s degree or currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Experience: Proficiency with SolidWorks (part modeling, assemblies, and drawings). Experience with 3D printing/additive manufacturing preferred. Prior exposure to mechanical design, prototyping, or engineering project work is a plus. Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals and engineering principles. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and CAD documentation. Familiarity with engineering database organization, file management, and revision control processes. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with cross‑functional teams. Clear communication and strong technical writing abilities. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
