Fuller’s Internship Program: You’ll be joining a cohort of talented students from a variety of schools across the U.S. We hire interns in the following positions: Process Engineering, R&D, Strategic Sourcing, Technical Sales, Supply Chain, Product Marketing, Information Technology, and more. The projects we task our interns to lead are impactful and meaningful to our organization. You’ll be supported by your Manager and Mentor to gain in-depth knowledge of the adhesive industry and collaborate with various departments and functions. Location: St. Paul, MN Our Internship Experience includes: 12-week paid program beginning the end of May to mid-August to gain insight and knowledge in your field. Interactive orientation and events with skilled professionals in your field, including managers, directors, and CEO. Multiple networking, volunteer and fun events – both virtual and in-person. Impactful projects that make a difference internally and externally for H.B. Fuller. End of summer final presentation to showcase your career development with support from managers and peers. Position Overview: This R&D internship offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute to research and development initiatives across multiple business units within a dynamic and innovative organization. Interns will support product development by evaluating raw materials, conducting performance testing, and assisting in formulation work involving adhesives, coatings, and other technologies. The role provides exposure to industrial processes, sustainability initiatives, and collaborative problem-solving in both laboratory and manufacturing environments. Final placement will be determined based on business needs and intern interests.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum rising junior or senior standing
  • Familiarity with laboratory environments and basic scientific principles
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a lab setting

Responsibilities

  • Conduct lab-based experiments to evaluate material and product performance
  • Analyze raw materials and interpret their impact on formulation outcomes
  • Prepare and test samples using standard and custom test methods
  • Collaborate with team members to refine formulations and meet performance targets
  • Document findings using data analysis tools such as Excel
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient workspace in lab and production settings
  • Participate in scouting and synthesizing new materials for product innovation
