About The Position

THE OPPORTUNITY The Intern – Wireless Systems Engineer reports to the R&D Director on the Communications Systems team . The successful individual in this role will learn from and work with experts in wireless communications, DSP, and networking, helping to design, simulate, analyze, and implement solutions that address real-world challenges in dynamic and demanding RF environments. This internship is full-time, on-site Monday through Friday, at Silvus Technologies’ HQ in the heart of vibrant West LA. The following is a list of at least some of the current essential functions of this internship opportunity.

Requirements

• In-progress Bachelor's degree or in-progress Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical field.
• Basic understanding of Communication Transmission Methods.
• Basic understanding of digital signal processing.
• Exposure to Linear Algebra (Eigenvectors).
• Must be a U.S. Citizen due to clients under U.S. government contracts.
• All employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check and drug testing.

Nice To Haves

• MATLAB coding experience.
• Understanding of Statistics and Probability applied to communication signal processing.
• Understanding of Physical Layer Signal Processing including optimal detection.
• Familiarity with OFDM and MIMO systems.

Responsibilities

• Algorithm and protocol design and parameterization for wireless systems projects.
• Simulate and evaluate communication systems and signal-processing algorithms.
• Hands-on work with Silvus radio products and Research & Development prototypes.
• System testing and characterization, to include:
• Lab equipment for signal generation, channel emulation, spectrum analysis, etc.
• Custom test utilities and data capture/analysis scripts.
• Field test planning and execution.
• Participate in the generation of technical documentation and presentations.
• Opportunities to further engage, learn, and develop skills as projects progress.
