About The Position

The Quick Turn Project Designer is responsible for executing time-sensitive design work in support of fast-paced customer and production requirements. This role focuses on accuracy, responsiveness, and manufacturability, ensuring that contracts, drawings, routing, and documentation are reviewed and released efficiently to support quick-turn production schedules. This position is a hands-on, individual contributor role that works closely with engineering, production, suppliers, and customers to maintain speed, quality, and compliance.

Requirements

Proficiency in CAD software and technical drawing creation.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, tolerancing, and assembly design.
Ability to interpret customer contracts, prints, and specifications.
High attention to detail and ability to work accurately under time constraints.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Effective communication skills with internal teams, customers, and suppliers.
Ability to manage multiple active projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Commitment to quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Review customer contracts for accuracy and ensure all specifications and requirements are clearly understood and met.
Create and review technical drawings to meet customer specifications, internal standards, and manufacturing capabilities.
Develop and maintain job travelers to support accurate and efficient production execution.
Perform tolerance analysis on critical assemblies to ensure proper fit, function, and performance.
Meet with suppliers, customers, and internal project stakeholders to review designs and implement changes as needed.
Modify designs to correct operating, quality, or production issues while maintaining quick-turn timelines.
Provide installation support as required to ensure successful implementation of designed components or assemblies.
Review routing by end of day (EOD) to confirm production readiness and prevent delays.
Attend team and project meetings to provide progress updates, coordinate priorities, plan next steps, and stay informed on emerging product lines.
Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to JR Metal Works’ quality, safety, and continuous improvement standards.
