Position Summary: The Quality Technician – 2nd Shift is responsible for performing routine testing and inspection of raw materials, in-process batches, and finished products to ensure compliance with product specifications and quality standards. This role is critical to maintaining consistent product performance in our rubber-based insulation manufacturing process. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in a quality lab, preferably in the rubber or polymer industry, and is familiar with standard test methods such as Mooney viscosity, MDR, and density measurements.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a quality lab, preferably in rubber, plastics, or polymer manufacturing
  • Familiarity with test equipment including MDR, Mooney viscometer, and densimeter
  • Understanding of ISO 9001 quality systems and documentation practices
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and data-entry skills
  • Ability to work independently and follow technical procedures

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or coursework in materials science, chemistry, or related field
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, SPC, or Six Sigma tools
  • Knowledge of SAP or similar ERP/quality systems

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical property testing on rubber compounds and foam products, including MDR, Mooney viscosity, density, tensile, and elongation.
  • Inspect incoming raw materials and verify compliance with supplier specifications.
  • Document and report quality test results in accordance with internal procedures and ISO standards.
  • Identify and communicate non-conforming material and assist in root cause investigations.
  • Calibrate and maintain lab testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Support production by performing in-process checks and monitoring quality during runs.
  • Assist with implementation and maintenance of ISO 9001 quality system requirements.
  • Participate in internal audits and contribute to corrective/preventive action processes.
  • Work closely with the Quality Supervisor, Production, and R&D teams to support continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the quality lab.
