The Quality Technician trains employees to execute quality procedures; ensures the routine maintenance of all testing equipment; works with personnel in other departments to resolve product and service quality problems; oversees the Lab Technician; assists Supervisors with "in-house" quality decisions and performs all required administrative functions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Compliance with all safety rules for personnel and facility protection as defined in the Plant Employee Manual. May train Lab Technician and review test results. May train Supervisors and Slitter Operators to identify steel defects. Trains affected employees in the use of measuring equipment. Maintains calibrations on lab test equipment. Makes decisions on the conformance of products to customer specifications during in-process inspections. Works with Sales, Purchasing, Production, and Customers on an "in-house" team to resolve problems as needed. Works with Purchasing and Production Planning on material problems and possible choices of material for a specific job as needed. Conduct internal ISO audits as needed. Performs testing on production jobs as needed. Maintains laboratory equipment and supplies. Verifies that jobs meet customer requirements. Assist Quality Management for projects related to research and development, production technology, and quality control. Maintain and control quality documents. Other duties as assigned.
