About The Position

Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Quality Supervisor is responsible for safely, efficiently, and effectively leading technical and analytical efforts within the Quality Department, and supporting the Operations Team, product development, and other functions as assigned. Additionally, the Quality Supervisor will serve as back-up for the Quality Manager. The Quality Supervisor is a key component of our overall business success.

Requirements

  • Must have thorough knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP)
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have good math skills
  • Must be able to work with diverse groups in a team environment
  • Must have supervisory skills
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple job requirements and projects
  • Must be able and willing to work at times on other shifts when necessary to perform the duties of the position and support Quality Department needs
  • Must become an American Society for Quality (ASQ) certified auditor and/or Preventive Control Qualified Individual (PCQI)
  • Must act as backup for Quality Manager
  • Associate’s Degree or higher in a technical/scientific discipline.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to Team Leaders, managers, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must have ability to define problems, collect data, establish fact and draw valid conclusions
  • Must be able to interpret an extensive variety of customer specific and industry specific data

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the guidelines of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), uniform and dress code, and product safety requirements.
  • Maintain departmental housekeeping standards, keeping work area clean and safe at all times.
  • Maintain a good attendance record and positive attitude.
  • Support company policies and be safety conscious at all times.
  • Report safety concerns and defective equipment to immediate supervisor or Team Leader.
  • Perform GMP, facility, and other audits daily or as requested.
  • Interact with production line personnel, Team Leaders, and managers regarding product quality issues.
  • Place raw materials, work in process, packaging materials, and finished product on hold.
  • Perform laboratory test methods with Quality Control (QC) technicians to perform key responsibilities effectively.
  • Perform Quality Assurance (QA) Technicians key responsibilities effectively.
  • Perform pre-operational inspection of equipment prior to start-up. Collaborate with Sanitation Team to readdress any equipment that doesn’t pass inspection.
  • Perform environmental swabbing and in-house listeria sp. swabs (post sanitation and prior to start-up), adenosine triphosphate (ATP) swabs, total plate count (TPC) non-routine swabs including allergen swabs: including any re-test swabs that need to be completed.
  • Send environmental swabs to outside laboratory, track and trend results weekly,
  • Compile data and trends for product holds
  • Go to remote warehouse to stage expired retained product samples and coordinate disposals.
  • Assist with customer complaints by gathering daily quality folders on site and pulling retained product samples from remote warehouse.
  • Run samples on Soxtherm for data gathering of Free Fatty Acids (FFA’s).
  • Assist the Lab Technicians with incoming raw material loads as needed.
  • Provide coverage for vacation and illness of Lab Technicians and Quality Inspectors on all shifts.
  • Calibrate in-line process sensors and all other gauges, meters, or equipment that control manufacturing processes.
  • Perform inventory of allergen swabs, sponges, and additional laboratory supplies
  • Work extended schedules as the needs of the business dictate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
