Position Overview: You will provide quality engineering and metrology support to manufacturing operations in Huntsville, AL, ensuring vehicle assemblies and back-shop processes meet defined standards. You will program and optimize measurement systems, interpret results, and partner closely with design engineering and global quality teams to drive data-based decisions. You will lead and standardize metrology best practices, shaping how GD&T and measurement are executed across assemblies and welded structures. This role offers the opportunity to make a visible business impact through ownership of measurement standards, cross-functional exposure, and hands-on problem solving at production scale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, metrology, engineering, operations, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in quality or process engineering or an equivalent field.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and correlated measurement data; strong background and application of GD&T on welded assemblies.
  • Previous CMM programming experience required (Hexagon PolyWorks experience preferred).
  • Ability to lead technicians in testing and inspection methods and troubleshoot dimensional discrepancies on CMM reports.
  • Strong process improvement skills, including RCCA (8D), DOE, Gage R&R, PPAP, blueprint reading, product failure analysis, and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Experience developing precise measurement systems, including calibration and standards; efficient in technical writing and publishing new standards using corporate document control systems.
  • Effective communication with global quality teams; self-starter able to work independently in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time, subject to business need.

Responsibilities

  • Support Quality Initiatives and Programs as assigned.
  • Program and operate CMM that aligns with print datums & train quality technicians to standardize measurement methods.
  • Lead statistical capability studies (Cpk) for problem solving initiatives and to support new product launch qualifications.
  • Review assemblies, weldments, and fabricated component drawings to ensure functional datum schemes (GD&T).
  • Provide feedback on design feasibility and suggest improvements based on measurement data.
  • Coordinate inspection of discrepant or suspect parts or material with supplier or third party when applicable.
  • Participate or Lead Failure Analysis and Root Cause and Corrective Requests Action Investigations.
  • Support new product introduction teams with QA fixtures/gauges development & procurement.
  • Generate special Quality Instructions and/or procedures as needed to contain quality issues or to assist with process validations.
  • Perform Six Sigma Measurement System Analysis (MSA/GR&R) and process capability studies.
  • Perform DOE if required.
  • Support internal audits as needed or product transfers.
  • Support Quality Lab in completing APQP, PPAP and production measurement requests
  • Champion and develop new metrology solutions that can be applied globally at all Polaris mfg. plants.
  • Define quality measurement standards; coordinate with design engineers on GD&T execution for global datums & localized datums.
  • Collaborate with design teams and support dimensional variation analysis (DVA)
