Role Definition: This position will provide leadership to improve lab safety, efficiency, and employee engagement. The role will also provide leadership and metallurgical experience for sustaining team development in the Mapleton Met Lab. The Quality Manager has responsibility to provide support for metallurgical quality initiatives in facility operations, supplier quality, and materials technology. Position will ensure conformity to metallurgical processes and requirements, day to day management of quality resources, and ensure resources are trained and competent. The Quality Manager oversees the administration and continual improvement of metallurgical quality.

Requirements

  • Experience in a manufacturing, quality, metallurgy, or engineering role
  • Effective Communications: Basic understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Planning and Organizing: Basic understanding of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.
  • Problem Solving: Basic understanding of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Manufacturing/Metallurgy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and PowerBI)
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Basis understanding of the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Experience using the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Basic understanding of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.
  • Performance Management: Basic understanding of successful performance management techniques; ability to apply organization's performance management system, practices, and tools to developing and improving individual, team, and organizational performance.
  • Quality Management System (QMS): Basic understanding of Quality Management System's (QMS) functions, features, and capabilities; ability to design, implement, test, and maintain Quality Management Systems to consistently meet customer requirements and regulatory compliances.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting development of metallurgical quality strategies, processes, guidelines and control plans which assure quality and reliability of manufactured products.
  • Leading the development and implementation of corrective action and preventive measures to achieve metallurgical quality targets.
  • Investigating and addressing trends with internal and external non-conformance.
  • Leading, managing and developing multiple teams, team leaders, metallurgical technicians, and inspectors to assure that metallurgical quality standards are met.
  • Developing and reviewing reports to review with metallurgical quality, production, management, and engineering personnel to solve metallurgical quality issues.
