Caterpillar is seeking a 3rd Shift Quality Manager in Sanford, NC. In this role, you will guide a diverse team of Quality Auditors and Product Quality Technicians supporting Operations and driving improvement in the quality of the products we make. What you can look forward to in this role: Providing guidance and direction for a team that owns and executes quality audits throughout the production processes, incoming quality audits (IQA), CMM lab, and calibration processes. Setting budget requirements, implementing cost saving projects, forecasting production needs and ensuring quality standards are maintained. Implementing/supporting various corporate initiatives such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, Internal Certification, etc. Supporting development of quality assurance strategies, processes, guidelines and control plans which assure quality and reliability of manufactured products. Leading the development and implementation of corrective action and preventive measures to achieve quality targets. Investigating and addressing trends with internal and external non-conformance. Leading, managing and developing multiple teams, team leaders, quality specialists and inspectors to assure that quality standards are met. Developing and reviewing reports to review with quality assurance, production, management, and engineering personnel to solve quality issues.

Requirements

  • Quality Management: Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA ): Knowledge of the concepts, principles and techniques of root cause analysis (RCA); ability to use a structured approach to identify the causes of undesirable consequences in a manufacturing environment and the changes needed to prevent recurrences.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.
  • Collaborating: Knowledge of collaborative techniques; ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university OR applicable experience in lieu of a degree
  • 3 years of direct leadership experience OR 3 years of proven leadership through projects and initiatives
  • A demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of people and collaborate across functional areas in a facility
  • A working knowledge of quality management systems
  • Project management background
  • Demonstrated focus on people, quality, velocity, and cost.
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills along with an understanding of how to leverage LEAN principles toward continuous improvement.
