About The Position

Worthington Steel is excited to hire a Quality Manager to join our team. The Quality Manager is a member of the facility leadership team and is responsible for managing compliance, regulatory and customer requirements. The position is accountable for the Quality System and provides the leadership necessary to drive the Worthington Steel and quality philosophies throughout the organization. The Quality Manager drives internal and external-facing interactions and solutions, including those that involve customers and suppliers. This position is responsible for the overall leadership of the Quality Department.

  • Auditing principles and practices
  • Advanced computer usage
  • Intermediate understanding of Metallurgical concepts
  • Advanced understanding of APQP and Quality Tools – PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan, GD&T, MSA, Problem Solving
  • Advanced ability to build relationships / communicate
  • Advanced problem solving / critical thinking capability
  • Subject Matter Expert Self-Motivation (Desire for continual improvement)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related experience
  • 7 plus years quality-related experience, 2 in a leadership role.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, train, develop, evaluate, and manage quality staff including Engineers, Specialists, Technicians and/or Inspectors; develop and implement succession planning
  • Ensure and report periodically to management on compliance to regulatory and customer-specific requirements
  • Develop, implement, maintain, audit, and improve the Quality System and customer-specific processes or systems.
  • Develop and execute change management processes to mitigate risk.
  • Interact with customers and suppliers to drive reduction of PPM; improve products and reduce costs; increase customer and supplier PPAP efficiency and timeliness
  • Drive performance objectives and reduction of Internal PPM and COQ
  • Provide leadership and guidance to facility management and employees to drive continual improvement, cost reduction, LEAN practices, WS and Quality Philosophies
  • Mentor and train others within the organization to develop and enhance a Problem-Solving culture; leverage data analytics to identify risks and drive improvements
