About The Position

The Quality Lab Supervisor is a member of the Rhinegeist Quality Lab Team. In this role you will carry out a variety of training, administration, and leadership functions. On a daily basis will ensure the basic functions of the Quality Lab are being performed and that the Lab staff are appropriately trained and reporting timely and accurate data. This position reports to the Quality Assurance Manager and works closely with the Brewing and Packaging teams to ensure that our high standards of quality are being met.

Requirements

Day shift role (10:00 am to 6:00 pm) with occasional weekend availabilty required.
Possess a Bachelor’s degree in a science related field (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Brewing Science, Microbiology, Food Science, Fermentation Science, Chemical Engineering)
5-6 years of experience in a Laboratory or Brewery setting
Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Must have an in depth knowledge of brewing and packaging process as well as Rhinegeist brewing quality lab procedures.
Must be 21 years of age.
Excellent Organizational skills and ability to manage a team and create a positive impact on team morale.

Nice To Haves

Masters Degree in a science related field (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Brewing Science, Microbiology, Food Science, Fermentation Science, Chemical Engineering).
Past supervisory experience
Experience in writing SOPs and creating the supporting Visual Aides
Independent thinking and planning ability
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to have a positive impact on team morale and to keep cohesion high in the lab
Preference to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

Training lab staff and New hires on Rhinegeist Quality SOPs and expectations
Manage Lab inventory and submission of purchase requests.
Administration and oversight over the proper use of SOP’s, forms and templates
Conduct training on lab equipment and quality protocols for lab and authorized non lab staff members
Coordinating and tracking regular calibration and service for instruments and equipment in the lab
Championing safety in the laboratory and ensuring adherence to Good laboratory practices (GLP) such as no food or drink in the lab and proper PPE
Ensuring that the Staff schedule is communicated every week and that all necessary coverage needs are being met
Responsible for supervision of Lab Technicians and Associates, providing coaching, conducting annual reviews and performing regular check-ins in collaboration with the Quality Lab Manager.
Ensures the integrity and reliability of laboratory and quality data by accurately documenting and entering information into designated systems, including Excel, Google Sheets, and Grist.
