About The Position

AeroTEC’s AC & Test Site Ops Department provides operational and facility requirements to support Fabrication, Aircraft Maintenance, Quality, Flight Test Instrumentation Installation & removal, and site safety (EH&S/SMS). The AC & Test Site Ops Division is responsible for providing resources and facilities for aircraft maintenance, quality, manufacturing, instrumentation installation and equipment to support customer requirements The Quality inspector is responsible for carrying out physical inspections on the Flight Test Aircraft as well as signing the release for flight. This role requires the significant exercise of independent discretion and judgment in matters of significance.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge in FAA regulations, Aviation Rules (FOD’s, Safety, Quality, hazardous materials, Aircraft Marshalling), aerodynamics, aircraft electrical systems, materials science, aircraft maintenance, electrical testing, instrumentation, gas turbine and piston power plants.

  • A&P License required.
  • 10+ years’ experience in Aircraft release as a Quality Inspector in Experimental Flight Testing, maintenance, or pre-flight.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, Lawful Permanent Resident, Refugee, or Asylee.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out physical inspections on Flight Test Aircraft to identify damage or defects and to assess airworthiness and conformance to standards.
  • Sign the release for flight form on aircrafts that pass Quality Inspection.
  • Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Observe and certify conformity with system tests.
  • Carry out daily audits related to shop floor practices or specific Quality System elements.
  • Prepare and audit Aircraft documentation such as Technical logs.
  • Administer non-conformance reports and snag reports.
  • Conduct Authority audits with QA organization as needed.
  • Perform Nondestructive testing (NDT) as needed.
  • Participate in promoting and developing the AeroTEC Quality Culture.
  • Complete special projects and miscellaneous tasks as assigned by manager.
