About The Position

The Quality Improvement Consultant will be responsible for performing a variety of duties to support the Quality Program of either the hospital or clinics. This position coordinates the daily processes involved in the collection and analysis of quality outcomes, meets required outcomes reporting and implements quality improvement activities in collaboration with Leadership and Quality or Safety Committees. Serves as Quality liaison to assigned departments or service lines, provides regular feedback and updates to stakeholders regarding projects, activities and needs, and collaborates with assigned departments’ leadership to develop quality goals and clinical/operational improvement strategies. Analyzes data, prepares reports, and presents findings. Manage, track and evaluate performance measures, identify data trends, make recommendations for clinical quality improvement initiatives when appropriate on required measures such as but not limited to: Core Measures, Clinical Outcomes Assessment Program (COAP), American College of Cardiology (ACC), and Society for Thoracic Surgeons (STS), PQRS (Adult HEDIS/NCQA measures), MIPS, and Specialty specific registry measures.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in health care, health services research field, Health Information Management, Computer Science, or a related discipline required. Equivalent related experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Must maintain current licensure as appropriate to profession.
  • Minimum of two years ambulatory or acute care hospital experience as a clinician, clinical data abstractor or quality analysis/performance improvement required.
  • BA/BS degree in health care, health services research field, Health Information Management, Computer Science, or a related discipline required. Equivalent related experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Must maintain current licensure as appropriate to profession.
  • Minimum of five years acute care hospital experience as a clinician, clinical data abstractor or quality improvement consultant required.
  • Relevant data collection and reporting experience including use of statistical methods, query development understanding strongly preferred.
  • Requires skills with MS Excel creating graphs, formulas, and functions; spreadsheet formation with formulas inserted, retrieving/importing data from other sources, exporting data to other tools and use of pivot tables.
  • Advanced knowledge of the operations of the healthcare industry and healthcare delivery systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Healthcare Quality preferred.
  • Certification in Healthcare Quality preferred.
  • Preferred skill with Tableau, Crimson, and Epic.
  • Working knowledge of DRGs, ICD-10, and CPT Coding preferred.
