About The Position

The Quality Field Technician is responsible for ensuring that quality-related duties are completed efficiently to satisfy customers, team members, and vendors. This role involves coordinating and supporting quality assurance on the manufacturing production floor, establishing and maintaining quality systems for producing high-quality products, and performing analytical testing to ensure product specifications are met in real-time. This position plays a critical role in the production of extended shelf life (ESL) dairy-related products.

Requirements

  • Ability to apply basic to complex mathematical concepts and handle job tasks involving weights and measures.
  • Basic statistics and statistical process control with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills in English to perform job functions.
  • Knowledge of the company's mission, purpose, goals, and role in achieving them.
  • Ability to operate quality and facility equipment as required.
  • Completion of all company training requirements.
  • Interpretation of company documents and literature, including UPC/code information.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows and software architecture.
  • Minimum of a GED or High School Diploma; Associate degree in chemistry, biology, food science, or ag-tech science preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months to 2 years of manufacturing/machine operation experience in the dairy/food industry preferred.
  • Experience with SQF or similar quality systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve assigned goals in production, safety, quality, performance, and cost.
  • Notify others of mechanical malfunctions to enhance productivity and equipment capabilities, and assist operators in resolving concerns.
  • Comply with GMPs, SOPs, corporate and plant policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Provide assistance and support to quality-related areas as assigned.
  • Ensure proper focus on quality checks performed by technicians and provide follow-up training as needed.
  • Perform finished pallet audits, end-of-shift product reviews, and other quality checks to ensure standards are met.
  • Track packaging/processing Key Quality Attributes (KQAs), identify problem areas and trends, and respond to operator quality questions.
  • Communicate effectively between shifts and departments, execute issue resolution, and escalate issues promptly.
  • Communicate product disposition and assist Operations with compliance to standards.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy of products in Quality Hold/retest status by performing routine cycle counts and reconciliations.
  • Audit Operations' paperwork for timely completion and accuracy.
  • Participate in Internal Quality Audit processes to improve plant quality systems and GMP compliance.
  • Audit and document compliance to the Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Conduct titration testing, verify chemical concentrations, and verify CIP dilution samples.
  • Perform troubleshooting, product weight verifications, and volumetric checks.
  • Complete sensory analysis on finished products as required.
  • Conduct investigative research on products or materials as assigned.
  • Conduct ATP cleaning verification and line release processes per shift.
  • Perform Environmental Swabbing as requested by QA Management.
  • Set up documentation and complete sample shipments using proper methods.
  • Cover breaks, lunches, and other staffing needs as assigned.
  • Comply with legal requirements concerning dairy processing and safety, and report concerns.
  • Work safely and report safety concerns promptly, taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Report food safety problems, initiate action, and support SQF by maintaining food safety and quality.
  • Ensure sanitary work areas and adhere to sanitation practices.
