About The Position

General Summary and Purpose: The Quality Engineering (QE) Technician is the lead for all quality related tasks, processes, Failure Analysis and procedures as well as specification and regulatory adherence for their area of responsibility. The Level 2 QE Technician is responsible for ensuring conformance to Corporate Quality Management Systems, ISO 13485 standards and all matters of regulatory compliance and leads identification and deployment of improvement actions within their areas of responsibility.

Requirements

  • Two years’ experience working in a high precision manufacturing environment overseen by a structured Quality Management System
  • Two years’ experience working in a structured quality department
  • Experience with mechanical systems, workflow processes and general shop floor documentation and control
  • Knowledgeable with basic hand tools, ie. micrometers, calipers, torque wrenches, including their proper use, maintenance and storage
  • Core member of investigations, pFMEAs and Failure Analysis for Root Cause, Corrective and Preventive Action events working in collaboration with Engineering and Operations
  • Ability to creatively collaborate with team members
  • Understanding of Test procedures and test equipment
  • Ability to utilize MS Excel to keep inspection data and to organize data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to walk, sit and/or stand throughout an eight-hour (or longer) day
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from a floor to chest high using proper lifting techniques
  • Must be able to repetitively use arms, hands, and fingers to manipulate tools and parts
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply problem-solving techniques and use sound judgement and reasoning to solve daily tactical issues

  • Must be a self-starter, able to make independent decisions and drive project completion without constant supervision
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certifications and/or two-year degree preferred
  • Experience with ISO-9000 or ISO 13485 standards preferred
  • Experienced in basic GD&T. Ability to understand notes, call-outs, regular and geometric tolerances preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implements and ensures the quality management system procedures and supporting documentation are communicated, supported and adhered to through the business operations.
  • Creates and distributes product Certificates of Conformance.
  • Responsible for failure analysis testing and improving processes and procedures in order to meet Quality Objectives for ULT Freezer Platform.
  • Supports all site leadership to maintain compliance throughout the site operation.
  • Supports shop floor Quality Policy/Manual and Quality Management Systems deployment and maintenance, ensuring all team members perform work in accordance to these standards.
  • Represents the company in a professional manner and upholds the highest interactions with other employees, customers, suppliers and third parties.
  • Initiates Corrective and Preventive Action to improve processes and procedures.
  • Supports customer feedback and investigates complaints through process audits, freezer and engine testing and participation in Root Cause analysis investigations.
  • Supports customer requests for information in their regulatory/quality filings.
  • Supports on-site customer audits and internal department audits.
  • Leads UL and TUV internal audits.
  • Ensures product and materials nonconformances are appropriately identified, controlled and dispositioned.
  • Ensures root cause to nonconformances are investigated and appropriately dispositioned to CAPA through feedback to CAPA administrator, as needed.
  • Ensures all test methods are controlled and performed in accordance to controlled procedures.
  • Supports budgeting process through equipment assessment.
  • Works collaboratively with Purchasing and Supplier Quality Engineering when Supplier nonconformances are found and for supplier requisitions when engineering testing is needed to validate alternate / new processes.
  • Initiates changes per the Change Management system through collaboration with engineering, purchasing and operations as well as enforcement and monitoring of shop floor processes for adherence to change directives.
  • Ensures Good Documentation Practices through paperwork assessments throughout operations and testing.
  • Actively contributes to cross business projects including testing, piloting and validations.
  • Maintain part inventory status in corporate database for quarantined/prototype parts.
  • Contain and sort quarantined material through proper inspection methods.
  • Report discrepant material supplied by vendors as well as non-conforming material produced by the manufacturing process.
  • Identifies CTQ (Critical to Quality) characteristics for statistical process control considerations and ensuring statistical process control records are maintained as needed.
