The Quality Engineering team’s mission is to ensure every Robinhood product meets the highest standards of reliability and safety. We focus on building scalable quality engineering solutions that support rapid innovation and protect our customers. We collaborate closely with engineering, product, and design to embed quality throughout the development lifecycle. As a Quality Engineering Manager, you’ll lead the strategy and execution of test automation and quality engineering practices across a key financial product. You’ll guide a growing team through complex technical challenges and drive consistency, speed, and safety across our release processes! You’ll also play a pivotal role in scaling our team and advancing our Safety First culture through data-driven quality initiatives. This role is based in our Menlo Park, CA office, with in-person attendance expected at least 4 days per week. Requirements

  • Experience managing quality engineering teams, including automation engineers and distributed team members
  • Strong technical background in test frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, Appium) and hands-on testing of consumer-facing products
  • Proven ability to build scalable quality engineering strategies using data-driven decision-making
  • A record of coaching engineers to achieve career growth and high performance
  • Excellent communication skills to influence and align with stakeholders across functions
  • Drive high performance by setting clear, focused goals, giving real-time feedback, stretching top talent, and scaling impact through focus, innovation, and tech.
  • Hire and retain top talent by setting a high bar, hiring only those who raise it, investing in onboarding, and addressing talent issues quickly and fairly.
  • Create community by connecting work to purpose, removing friction while prioritizing safety, building trust and inclusion, and leading from the front with integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Engineering, Product, and Design teams to define quality strategies and lead cross-functional initiatives.
  • Establish test automation best practices and drive their adoption across the organization.
  • Drive operational excellence through release health dashboards, post-release monitoring, and continuous feedback loops with engineering and SRE partners.
  • Architect scalable quality platforms (automation, CI/CD, smoke tests, contract tests) aligned with product and platform roadmaps.
  • Deliver impactful solutions that improve test coverage, release confidence, and product stability.
  • Hire and grow a diverse team of quality engineers through inclusive recruiting and strong mentorship.
  • Guide the team with technical direction and thoughtful planning to ensure high-quality product delivery.
