BuildOps is seeking a skilled Quality Engineering Manager to oversee a team of QE Leads and SDETs, driving execution of the Product Roadmap, coaching the team to deepen their technical expertise and engagement across the SDLC, and partnering with QE Leadership and Platform SDETs to align resources and tooling for upcoming initiatives. As BuildOps enters another phase of rapid growth, this leader will play a critical role in establishing and maturing quality processes to raise the overall quality bar across BuildOps.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams with a quality focus
  • Experience building out cross team processes that align Engineering, Product and customer facing on Quality and how deliver the best product experience to our customers
  • Experience working with SDETs and Engineering Teams to design and implement test automation frameworks
  • Strong technical background across the stack including understanding core API concepts, both SQL and NoSQL databases and cloud infrastructure such as AWS & Kubernetes
  • Proven ability to mentor engineers and engineering leads on executing tasks independently and growing a strong technical understanding of the underlying systems that power our product applications
  • Basic understanding of Javascript, Python, or Typescript and ability to review code as well as build tooling scripts to increase the team's overall output
  • Experience with establishing metrics and analysis for data driven decisions as we shape how our engineering teams will operate in the future
  • Experience with scaling SaaS platform quality across the organization
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule - Monday/Friday WFH, Tuesday - Thursday, in office

  • Experience working startups and growing teams to deliver quality software at a rapid pace by building out clear processes and expectations across the organization
  • Strong programming experience including hands on experience deploying cloud infrastructure, building out test automation frameworks from scratch or large tooling platforms used across the company

Responsibilities

  • Work with Engineering Managers and Product Managers to align organizational goals with overall company initiatives
  • Constantly review our SDLC processes for areas of improvement and ensure all our processes will scale as our team grows larger across Quality, Engineering, and Product
  • Lead a team of quality engineers and SDETs to plan how to deliver on our product roadmap while solving complex testing challenges
  • Collaborate across Product, Engineering, DevOps, testing teams, and customer-facing teams on including Quality at every stage of the SDLC
  • Play an active role in supporting SDETs in the development, maintenance, and improvements of test automation frameworks for UI, Microservices & API
  • Mentor quality engineers to provide in-depth analysis to resolve technical issues, mitigate risks, and ensure timely management escalation
  • Mentor quality engineers on understanding the fundamentals of API, Databases and cloud architecture to empower them to own testing at every layer of our stack
  • Report and use quality metrics to drive continuous improvements in quality engineering
  • Create technical documentation relating to test architecture, design steps, integration processes or procedures.
  • Participate in technical and UI/UX design meetings to provide a voice of Quality at the start of any major initiatives
