About The Position

Crestron Electronics is seeking a Manager of Quality Engineering to lead and develop our Touch Panels and User Interface testing team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This position requires a hands-on leader who can drive quality initiatives and manage a geographically dispersed team with a focus on UI/UX performance, reliability, and innovation. You will have the opportunity to shape Crestron’s User Interface test strategy, cultivate a technically advanced testing environment, and guide our resources to deliver world-class control solutions. The Crestron User Interface portfolio comprises award-winning Crestron Touch Panels, Crestron Remotes, and top-rated Android applications, which come together ubiquitously to deliver an elegant experience to our customers in both residential and digital workplaces. Requirements

  • Manage and mentor a team of Quality Engineering professionals, fostering growth and ensuring high performance across geographically distributed teams between the US and India.
  • Proven ability to define strategic goals for User Interface and Touch Panel quality engineering operations.
  • Deep knowledge of embedded systems, specifically Android-based operating systems, UI/UX testing strategies, and application frameworks.
  • Strong skills in evaluating product performance in complex environments involving networking (Layer 2/Layer 3), third-party integrations, and automation systems.
  • Ability to make sound technical decisions that balance product quality excellence and business alignment.
  • Experience driving the transition from manual to automated testing for Crestron Touch Panels products.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify and address patterns and trends in defect rates and product performance.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor in Electrical or Computer Engineering is required. Masters is a plus.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in embedded system testing and test automation, with a focus on Android-based products.
  • 5+ years of experience in delivering complex, high-quality Android-based embedded products.
  • 2+ years of experience leading geographically dispersed test teams, driving performance improvements and fostering a culture of quality.
  • Strong proficiency in testing Android-based systems.
  • Experience in Layer 2 and Layer 3 Ethernet networking protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, etc.).
  • Experience with tools like Jira and Jama for test case management and project tracking.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • Proven experience in managing multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Exceptional written and verbal skills is required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and deliver quality software to production within tight schedules is required.
  • Track record of completing assignments on time with a high degree of quality is critical.
  • Excellent team player with a consistently positive attitude and collaborative approach to problem solving, options analysis and continuous improvement of process, team and systems.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple large-scale projects is critical.
  • Team oriented; strong interpersonal skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the strategic vision for the Touch Panels Quality Engineering team, ensuring high-quality user interface products and components.
  • Lead a professional staff of 7 engineers (US and India), setting the team up for success across complex projects spanning multiple user interfaces.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive test plans, converting manual Android mobile and app test cases to automated tests to gain efficiency.
  • Assess and optimize both objective and subjective product performance, addressing challenges such as screen responsiveness, UI rendering, and network connectivity.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for UI Quality, driving decisions to meet diverse user needs and expectations.
  • Attract, mentor, and retain top talent, fostering a culture of critical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Build positive, productive working relationships across internal and external stakeholders, communicating status to product stakeholders on a regular basis.
  • Provide leadership in quality risk management by identifying, quantifying, and mitigating product risks that can impact product quality.
  • Develop and implement efficient test processes, procedures, and automation strategies to ensure timely and cost-effective product releases.
  • Work closely with Technical Product Support teams to identify typical, atypical, and challenging use cases for continuous quality improvement.
