About The Position

This Quality Engineer position at Wieland Thermal Solutions, Inc. in Wheeling, IL, is responsible for ensuring products meet the company's quality standards. Key aspects of the role include maintaining ISO 9001:2015 certification and managing both internal and external complaints. The engineer will conduct thorough investigations of customer and internal complaints to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions. The role also involves leading and supervising the quality team, collaborating with various departments, and reviewing items for quality improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Material Science, or a related field, or any combination of education, training, and/or work experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in the fields listed above.
  • 2 years of experience in the organization, implementation, and/or management of ISO certifications.
  • 2 years of experience with each of the following QA tools: PPAP, Process FMEA, Control Plan, Risk Assessment, Internal Audits, and Gauge Management and Calibration.
  • 2 years of experience leading a team of at least three individuals.
  • 2 years of experience in interpretation of International Standards.
  • 2 years of experience reading blueprints.
  • 2 years of experience with nondestructive testing.
  • 2 years of experience in project management.
  • 2 years of experience in SAP, Factory Suite, MS Office and any QA software.
  • Certified or trained in ISO 9001, 14001, and either ISO 45001 or OHSAS 18001.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring products meet quality standards for the company.
  • Maintaining the ISO 9001:2015 certification and handling of the internal and external complaints.
  • Investigates customer complaints to determine root cause and implement corrective actions and provide 8D reports to customers.
  • Maintains ISO 9001:2015 certification, SOPs, Work Instructions and Quality records.
  • Leads and supervises the quality team, assigning tasks and monitoring their performance.
  • Works closely with production, engineering, supply chain, and other departments to address quality-related issues.
  • Reviews new items or existing items for feasibility and/or improving the quality capability.
  • Provides timely reports to Management for review for continuous Improvement and drive down the cost of Quality.
