About The Position

The Quality Engineer Continuous Improvement (QE – CI) position will coordinate projects to reduce product nonconformances. Develop and help with quality tools (SPC, MSA, etc.) to operational maturity. Recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods and controls. This QE CI will also support nonconformance management and Material Review Board responsibilities. This position reports directly to the Sr. Quality Manager. WORK SHIFT: Monday to Friday. Day shift from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Ability to work 40+ hours per week, including weekends as needed.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in engineering or technical related field
  • 2+ years of experience in operations, manufacturing, or continuous improvement roles, with increasing leadership responsibility; forging and/or machining industry preferred
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and quality systems; Aerospace preferred
  • Ability to complete work assignments accurately and quickly, always focusing on accomplishing the goal.

Nice To Haves

  • Aerospace Quality experience is preferred.
  • Material Review Board / part and documentation review and decision making
  • Working knowledge of aerospace industry standards (AS9100, AS13100) and quality management systems.
  • Lean manufacturing basics; Continuous Improvement knowledge and experience.
  • Experience in 6S/5S quality systems within a manufacturing environment.
  • Geometric dimensioning & tolerance, drawing interpretation, Experience in areas of quality assurance such as: DOE, FMEA/PFMEA, SPC, RCCA, control plans, material control, process control, systems performance, product evaluation, MSA, metrology, is preferred.
  • Ability to conduct internal and external quality audits to recognize improvement opportunities and work with stakeholders to identify and implement effective CA/PA plans.
  • Project Management, basic Basic visual and dimensional inspection skills using measuring equipment and inspection tools.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Black Belt strongly preferred).
  • Minitab or other statistical software experience is preferred
  • Oracle experience preferred
  • AutoCAD experience
  • Spanish verbal and written

Responsibilities

  • Comply with PCC Code of Conduct Requirements and all PCC Quality Rules and Safety Rules
  • Conduct training on quality assurance concepts and tools.
  • Collect, organize, monitor and distribute information for the Company and to customers/suppliers related to product quality and process improvement.
  • Maintain and communicate metrics which record successes and track progress.
  • Lead structured root-cause investigations using 5 Whys, Fishbone, DMAIC, and other methodologies to address recurring quality and operational challenges.
  • Implement in-process inspection systems, operator training programs, and mistake-proofing measures to reduce scrap and improve first-pass yield.
  • Implement / monitor Statistical Process Control for forge processing parameters (Ignition) and process Control for critical part and process parameters
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects to minimize deviant/nonconforming product and optimize throughput.
  • Support or lead continuous improvement initiatives and teams
  • Utilize data to drive improvements and implement control plans to sustain those improvements.
  • Assist with customer complaints, audits, and corrective actions, involving investigation of quality or process problems
  • Perform internal audits
  • Conduct Nonconforming Material Review and disposition
  • Assist in processing non-conformance, scrap, and customer return material.
  • Perform product nonconformance root cause analysis, corrective action and execution
  • Lead continuous improvement projects for chronic nonconformance issues
  • Inspect parts for dimensional compliance using basic measuring equipment including, tape measures, calipers, micrometers, height gages, dial indicators, "snap gauges", profilometers, etc.
  • Validate and process Return Material Authorization (RMA) requests for products with dimensional issues; Monitor nonconforming parts through RMA and the rework process including timely disposition and closure.
  • Lead, validate and provide 8D responses upon customer request
  • Review internal CARs for viability, completion and effectiveness measurements
  • Monitor quality control activities and processes at suppliers.
  • Review and analyze corrective action and non-conformance data to eliminate non-conformances.
  • Develop reports and metrics on various aspects of quality assurance function including cost of scrap and rework operations, accuracy of inspection, quality of outgoing product, etc.
  • Support manufacturing operations as needed to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Identify and reports safety problems.
