About The Position

Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for a Quality Engineer at Cleveland Works Facility. The Quality Engineer will lead Quality Systems Management program at Cleveland Works to ensure the plant meets the requirements of the Quality Management Process and applicable external quality standards. The Quality Engineer will also support other aspects of the Quality Department as needed. The ideal candidate will have prior steel industry experience or Engineering degree, be self-motivated and thrive in a fast-paced work environment with complex operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical Engineering field or relevant experience.
  • Ability to coordinate and execute a multitude of projects with minimal supervision.
  • Data analysis skills necessary for data driven decision making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office products.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Experience in steel production or manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Quality System requirements for IATF 16949 and/or QS 9001.
  • Formal internal auditor/ lead auditor quality system training and experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with Quality Core Tools (FMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP,APQP).
  • 3 years of experience in Quality Management Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct Quality Audits of operating departments and support disciplines.
  • Lead product/process improvement team efforts.
  • Maintain calibration system and oversee internal and external calibration of measuring equipment.
  • Perform and document Measurement System Analysis (gage studies).
  • Prepare PPAP documentation and maintain PPAP system.
  • Prepare and assist with maintenance of core quality documents including FMEA, Control Plans and Process Flow Diagrams.
  • Coordinate and help host external audits performed at Cleveland Works.
  • Coordinate timely completion of Corrective Action Requests (CAR) and ensure that they are complete and accurate.
  • Support Operations as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
