About The Position

The Kinetic Group is a world leader in the design, manufacturing, and distribution of small caliber ammunition under the iconic brands B&P, CCI, Federal Premium, Fiocchi, HEVI-Shot, Remington and Speer. Today, The Kinetic Group is a part of the Ammo+ division of The Czechoslovak Group (CSG), which holds a diverse portfolio of companies in the defense, security, automotive, aerospace and rail industries. Responsibilities includes quality manufacturing, inspection, quality training and process improvement. Duties will include creating or improving inspection methods, reviewing work instructions, establishing inspection/sampling plans, investigating root cause of nonconformances, implementing corrective actions, performing statistical analysis, conducts internal audits, and supports continuous improvement efforts. This position reports to the Sr. Quality and Ballistics and Quality Manger at the Remington Ammunition Plant in Lonoke, AR. As the Quality Engineer, you will have an opportunity to: Develops and initiates methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation, utilizing knowledge in engineering fields as needed. Support preparation of FAI, including identification of critical features with engineering and coordination with inspection to assure proper inspection techniques. Inspects in process and completed parts, visually and with inspection equipment in accordance with applicable drawings and requirements. Reads and interprets drawings, specifications, procedures, and inspection instruments. Capable to create test reports, sampling procedures, inspection instructions and data entry sheets. Reviews inspection data to assure integrity and provide data analysis, as needed. Communicates effectively with inspection, programming, assembly, planning and engineering, regarding non-conformances, corrective actions, and continuous improvement. Evaluates and dispositions non-conforming product during the MRB process. Analyzes data to establish trends in order to prioritize root cause and corrective action activities. Investigates and resolves part or process quality issues as part of a hands-on operations team. This includes communicating in both writing and verbally to customers (internal/external) and suppliers, so they understand fundamentals of issues and resolutions. Applies problem solving techniques to help perform root cause analysis in the implementation of corrective action, and effectively works with team members of other disciplines to resolve issues with robust solutions. Helps the quality inspectors to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system. Implements methods and procedures for disposition of non-conforming material. Supports quality training, manufacturing control plans, and inspection work instructions. Participates in continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system, such as 5S, Kaizen, lean methods, PPI, etc. Helps sustain training activities to build quality awareness. Analyze failures, coordinate/conduct failure analyses Assist Quality Management in establishing, implementing, and maintaining the quality management system. Conducts audits, including closing out audit findings, creating audit finding reports and determine proper corrective and preventive actions. Analyzes failure, corrective and preventive action to respond to auditing party. Ensures timely resolution of internal failure, corrective actions, and preventive actions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (e.g, mechanical, manufacturing, industrial).
  • 3-5 years related experience and/or training as a Quality Engineer.
  • Background in manufacturing engineering or machining with strong mechanical skills.
  • Problem solving and root cause analysis understanding.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, including working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience or knowledge in solid modeling/CAD such as SolidWorks.
  • Familiarity with metrology concepts, basic equipment, and inspection methods.
  • Awareness of statistical methods and applying statistical tools/techniques.
  • Intermediate to advance use of Excel or other statistical analysis program, working knowledge of other Microsoft Office programs.
  • Collaborative and effective team player and able to work with teams who are globally dispersed.
  • Able to travel domestically or between The Kinetic Group facilities (10%).

Nice To Haves

  • Some quality tools/SIX SIGMA experience (FMEA, DOE, Gauge R&R, SPC, process capability analysis, etc.) preferred.
  • Computer/Software Programming Skills or knowledge a plus.
  • ASQ CQE and/or Six Sigma Certification a plus.
