This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. In this role, you will establish, implement, maintain, and enforce quality system processes that support products in a production environment. As needed, measure, analyze, and improve quality system performance consistent with organization quality goals, integrate quality system applications between engineering, manufacturing, and operations to ensure the consistent and ongoing use of quality best practices and communication of quality issues, and facilitate troubleshooting of quality issues with various teams, lead causal analysis activities to drive to root cause and corrective action. In addition, you will perform reviews and approve manufacturing build documents including work orders and nonconformance records. You will perform periodic audits of the application of our quality system in accordance with AS9100, recommend initiatives and/or changes that will improve product and system quality, and provide quality assurance subject matter expertise to inspection, manufacturing and test. Periodically, you will interface with internal and external customers on quality related concerns and develop training materials to build quality awareness. You will report directly to the Quality Engineering Manager. As part of a hardworking team of Quality Engineers, you will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of developing, testing and launching Space systems to support Blue Origin’s Vision. Requirements

  • Minimum of a B.S. in Engineering/Science
  • 5+ years’ proven experience in a Quality Engineer role in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9000 QM System and/or related quality systems and programs
  • Ability to support manufacturing schedules (first or second shift) and overtime on as needed basis

Nice To Haves

  • American Society of Quality, Certified Quality Engineer certification
  • Experience in Aerospace, space launch, military/commercial aviation highly preferred.
  • Experience with IPC J-STD-001 (Space Addendum)
  • Experience with IPC 620 standard (IPC-WHMA-A-620)
  • Experience in GD&T fundamentals
  • Experience with quality tools such as Lean principles, Six Sigma, root cause analysis and corrective action
  • Experience with advanced product quality planning (APQP), process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA), control plans, and various problem solving approaches
  • Quality Management System audit experience
  • Quality performance measurement analysis capabilities
  • Six Sigma Green, Black Belt, or comparable certification
