This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. Join a talented team of engineers ensuring software quality for spaceflight systems. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Program Quality, you'll assess development activities for compliance with internal processes and customer requirements, approve software configurations for safety-critical functions, and drive process improvements across programs. This is an auditing and process assurance role, in which you will evaluate how software is built, conduct compliance reviews, and partner with development teams to ensure quality standards are met throughout the software lifecycle. You must be passionate about solving complex problems, work independently with minimal direction, and thrive in a dynamic environment working across multiple spaceflight systems and applications. Requirements

  • 6+ years experience in software engineering or software quality engineering roles
  • 6+ years experience reviewing, assessing, or assuring software development process compliance
  • 6+ years experience identifying software process issues, performing root cause analysis, and managing corrective actions

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science discipline
  • Experience transitioning products from development through production to operations
  • Background in aerospace, space launch, aviation (military or commercial), or similarly regulated industries
  • ASQ Certified Software Quality Engineer or similar quality certification

Responsibilities

  • Serve as quality liaison with software development teams, conducting manual audits and communicating findings throughout each phase of the software development lifecycle
  • Assess software development lifecycle phases for compliance with approved plans, customer requirements, and Quality System standards
  • Review and evaluate software configurations, load control processes, and transition readiness from development to production
  • Monitor software planning, design, development, configuration management, verification/validation, and production transition activities
  • Review and assess complex electronic hardware development activities using standards like DO-254, DO-178C, and DO-330
  • Participate in software engineering design reviews and provide recommendations to improve design quality
  • Coach development teams on process improvements, applying lessons learned across multiple business units to influence better design decisions
  • Identify software process issues, perform root cause analysis, and manage corrective actions
  • Generate metrics and trends to manage risk and communicate software readiness for safety-critical operations
