Quality Engineer II
About The Position
POSITION TITLE: Quality Engineer IISHIFT: 1st. SECTION OR DEPARTMENT: Electronics Division, Quality Department REPORTS TO: Quality Manager LOCATION: Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc. Edmonton, KY BASIC POSITION DUTIES: Monitors, reviews and confirms daily quality performance of assigned Production Lines. Tracks in-process defects of assigned lines and identifies improvement activities to reduce and/or eliminate target defects. Investigate Quality problems / concerns of the OEM assigned. Analyze and investigate root cause Quality issues of the assigned OEM. Assist in developing robust countermeasures for in-house and OEM Quality issues by Leading root cause analysis using tools such as 5 why, fishbone, DOE, & SPC. Compile analysis report, report to OEM and track status to closure. Assist in establishing and developing manufacturing operation procedures, equipment procedures, Daily check items, and other documentation of procedures for assembly processes. Report on OEM Quality issues to management Creates, maintains, and improves PFMEA, Process Quality Control Plan, and all associated documents. Supports and communications with all departments to identify potential quality concerns and improvement activities. Support APQP/PPAP activities. Perform process capability studies. Analyze defects related to soldering, SMT processes, components, ESD & functional testing. Support validation testing and failure analysis. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce scrap, rework & warranty risks.
Requirements
- Quality Engineering Technologist – HS, GED, or technical certificate plus 3-5 years’ experience.
- Quality Engineer - Engineering Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related field.
- Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in Electronics manufacturing and demonstrated applicable engineering skills.
- Good Communication and Computer Skills.
- Experience may be substitution for degree.
- Experience in Microsoft office computer programs.
- Travel as needed, including potentially international.
