About The Position

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our Cedar Rapids team and support the integrity, reliability, and performance of mission-critical aerospace products. In this individual contributor role, you will partner with engineering, manufacturing, and program teams to help ensure products and processes meet rigorous quality standards. You’ll apply sound quality principles and analytical thinking to support defect prevention, problem resolution, and continuous improvement efforts across the product lifecycle. As a Quality Engineer, you will contribute to quality planning and execution within both program and product environments. You’ll assist with risk identification using tools such as PFMEA, MSA, and process control methodologies, support new product introductions and process changes, and participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities. This role is ideal for an early-career quality professional who enjoys working in a hands-on manufacturing environment and wants to grow their technical depth while building strong cross-functional partnerships in aerospace manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment supporting assembly, inspection, or test operations
  • Prior experience interpreting engineering drawings, work instructions, and Bills of Materials (BOMs)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline
  • Familiarity with quality tools such as PFMEA, MSA, Control Plans, Root Cause Analysis, Lean, or Six Sigma
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in a production setting
  • Exposure to data analysis or basic statistical methods
  • Professional quality certifications such as ASQ (e.g., CQE) are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of quality evaluation and control systems and protocols
  • Assist in the development and review of testing and inspection plans to ensure product reliability and conformance
  • Participate in investigations of nonconformities and support root cause analysis and corrective action activities
  • Utilize PPAP core elements (e.g., PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow and Control Plans) to support risk identification and mitigation efforts
  • Contribute to work transfer and process change reviews to ensure quality requirements are met
  • Review process control documentation for compliance with established requirements and standards
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure quality standards are effectively implemented
  • Support escape management activities and documentation requirements
  • Assist in the evaluation of inspection methods and continuous improvement initiatives
