As the Quality Engineer (QE), you will work closely with other disciplines in BAE Systems SMS to support the build and test of payloads and spacecraft hardware in all phases of the program from inception to launch. Your teammates will include Engineering, Test, Manufacturing, Customers, Inspectors, etc. The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management. What You’ll Do: Work as part of a team during all phases of the program lifecycle, supporting design and execution activities under the guidance of leadership and program personnel. Support major program milestone activities such as subcontract procurements, design reviews, testing, configuration control audits, and problem reporting and resolution. Facilitate the formulation and documentation of appropriate Root Cause, Corrective and Preventive Actions associated with product nonconformances. Participate in and eventually chair Material Review Board (MRB) activities to identify the best path forward for nonconforming hardware. This also includes participation in Failure Review Boards (FRBs) for larger program teams. Support test activities by reviewing Test Procedures, Test Anomalies and requirement verification. Support Engineering and Manufacturing by reviewing drawings, work instructions, process plans, build documents and requirements. Participate on the shop floor/cleanroom. Support Test and Manufacturing activities outside of normal business hours as required by being on call or in person. This can include weekends and nights at times depending upon the phase of the program. Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule. Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment. Perform other duties as necessary. On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
