About The Position

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Provides a wide variety of support services to the Quality Director (QD) including identifying, planning, and executing improvement projects.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Nursing; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Must be a self-starter; possess strong organizational skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Training or experience in quality concepts, organizational dynamics, change theory tools and methods for improvement.
  • Familiarity with statistical processes such as control charts and cause and effect diagrams.
  • Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in a health care environment with ability to run and create reports from various reporting applications.
  • Confidentiality and protection of patient information is critical.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Perform administrative support work involving the use of personal initiative to work within tight deadlines.
  • Learn and apply organizational and departmental policies, procedures and rules.
  • Learn and apply applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Maintain functional awareness of quality requirements of CMS, HRSA, TJC, and other regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities

  • Supports regulatory and accreditation activities including participation in surveys and accreditation readiness.
  • Supports the QD in hypothesis and data driven problem solving through collecting, organizing, analyzing and displaying qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Analyzes systems and processes to understand workflow, relationships, stakeholders and culture in order to identify opportunities for improvement and the key drivers for improvement.
  • Reports and explains measures and data to internal and external audiences.
  • Assists clinicians, clinical leaders and administrators to manage and understand improvement measures, performance dashboards, and score cards and to use data analysis to drive fact-based decision making.
  • Collaborates with clinicians and clinical leaders, designs tests to evaluate the impact of changes on clinical processes and outcomes and facilitates organizational learning about the impact of improvement efforts.
  • Advises clinicians and clinical leaders to transition from testing to implementation and coaches clinicians and clinical leaders to build proven changes into their processes and systems and to spread improvement.
  • Provides consultation on change adoption and diffusion and the management of resistance and constraints.
  • Building Organizational Capability and Accountability: Teaches improvement science and methods to clinicians and clinical leaders. Models the use of a standardized approach to improvement work. Provides expert consultation on improvement work. Acts as an organizational patient safety champion, and as a working member of the patient safety and quality improvement leadership of the organization, supports patient safety concepts and methods and high reliability principles.
  • Assists designated staff to compile, organize and may present data for special projects; collect and assemble data and background materials for a variety of reports and business plans; maintain and collect confidential material and records.
  • Verifies and reviews materials for completeness and conformance with established.
  • Functions as an Electronic Health Record (EHR) super-user.
