What you will do: Collect plant samples at specified times and perform required laboratory testing, including size analysis, XRF/XRD, moisture, LOI, and free lime, with accurate entry of results into the laboratory database. Perform additional or unscheduled testing as needed and communicate out-of-spec or unusual results to supervisors and control room operators to support quality standards. Operate laboratory equipment, including compression machines, assist in the Physical Test Lab, perform calculations, and provide clear documentation and data communication. Learn and operate the Prolab system, including startup, shutdown, and basic troubleshooting. Maintain a safe, clean work environment by following plant policies, MSHA regulations, and all safety, environmental, and emergency procedures. Ensure work meets department standards, support continuous improvement efforts, troubleshoot causes, and work flexible schedules and locations as directed by plant supervision. Experience and abilities, you will need: High school education with emphasis on chemistry. Good knowledge of chemical analysis. Working knowledge of x-ray analysis. Basic math skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide, fractions, percentages. Ability to keep neat and accurate records. General knowledge of cement production. Working knowledge of ASTM procedures. Must be able to work shifts and work in the plant when needed as directed by the plants supervisory personnel to meet plant needs. Good physical condition as position may require bending, kneeling, walking, standing, climbing, stairs and lifting; high degree of manual dexterity and coordination and good eye/hand coordination.
