Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history. Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Quality Control Tech Measurements – Level 1 to join our team in Charlotte, NC. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work. An organization within Northrop Grumman, SYNOPTICS is the world-wide leader in the growth, fabrication, and coating of crystalline materials used in laser systems. These “solid-state” laser crystals are used in products ranging from medical lasers to military laser systems. The Charlotte facility has been operating for over 40 years in the laser industry and has developed the reputation of providing the highest quality products with timely deliveries. Within the facility, solid-state oxide and fluoride crystals are grown from a high-temperature melt. SYNOPTICS has full optical fabrication capabilities for various plano and spherical geometries. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 0 years additional education and/or related experience.
  • No clearance required to start
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn is required.
  • Ability to interpret engineering prints.
  • Ability to work with small parts - visual acuity and manual dexterity skills are required for handling laser rods is required.
  • Ability to operate equipment without supervision is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
  • Regular, punctual Attendance is required as well as flexibility for shifts is required.
  • Unscheduled overtime and/or shift flexibility may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or two-year technical degree is preferred.
  • Previous measurements experience is preferred, including familiarity using an interferometer, spectrophotometer, or various dimensional measurement tools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional and optical measurements utilizing various gages and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate data collection of inspection results (via Excel or SfC).
  • Adhere to all applicable standard work procedures and documents.
  • Communicate quality concerns to management or supervision in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for keeping and sustaining a clean, orderly, and safe work area per the 5$ guidelines.
  • Participate in team projects developing process improvements to enhance quality or reduce cost.
