About The Position

Quality Control Specialist - Southport, NC Job Description: Provide technical support and leadership for the quality control technician team, and develop and implement continuous improvement opportunities for laboratory equipment and practices. Focus on activities which maintain and improve the quality system for the lab. 24/7 support of the plant is required as needed. Work closely with Quality Assurance and lab technicians to provide accurate and reliable lab data for controlling the production process and for meeting finished product specifications. Position reports to the Quality Control Manager and is responsible for supporting all aspects of the quality control laboratory and leading continuous improvement initiatives within the Quality Control Department including; Maintain, troubleshoot and repair laboratory and facility equipment as needed. Assist with training and developing laboratory technicians in all aspects of process control and finished product testing. Review and maintain laboratory records and procedures adhering to the ISO, FDA, USP, FCC, and GMP requirements. Assist with HR related activities such as managing technician schedule, Responsible for shipping out samples to customers and third party labs. Assist with ordering lab supplies and managing inventory. Develop work practices and procedures and communicate them to the technicians. Maintain and analyze lab data for process control. Assist with plant and corporate quality initiative implementation. Responsible for covering the Lead Lab Tech position, including weekends, shifts, and holidays, based on business needs. Responsible for participating in QC Lab weekend and holiday coverage rotation. The Quality Control Specialist position requires someone with a proven track record in safety, supervision of Lab Technicians and sound analytical technique.

Requirements

  • Strong safety record and demonstrated participation in ADM safety initiatives
  • Strong technical skills – natural aptitude for troubleshooting and repairing laboratory, facility and mechanical/electrical equipment
  • Strong Microsoft Office, TLC, Maximo, IBM (IVGO) and Policy Tech skills
  • Detailed oriented, excellent organizational skills, strong analytical technique
  • Results-oriented, makes tough calls and proceeds independently with confidence and purpose
  • Takes initiative; see what needs to be done and makes it happen, speaks up, shares ideas, asks questions, seizes opportunities and goes beyond what is expected
  • Flexibility to adjust, change and adapt to support business needs
  • Demonstrated support of QC management initiatives
  • Proven ability to supervise and motivate Lab Technicians and demonstrated leadership qualities
  • Must have the ability to relocate equipment and supplies
  • Must have the ability to walk long distances and climb stairs
  • Involves standing for long periods of time, bend and kneel, climbing stairs and ladders
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays and cover lead lab tech position (shifts) as needed to support business demands

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Chemistry strongly preferred
