About The Position

The Quality Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, coordination, and execution of the Company’s Quality Control program across multiple production locations. This role ensures all products meet or exceed company standards, customer specifications, and applicable industry requirements. The Quality Manager provides hands-on oversight of inspection activities, supervises QC personnel, enforces quality and safety standards, and drives continuous improvement throughout fabrication and production processes. This position serves as the primary quality liaison between Production, Engineering/Detailing, and Management.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in quality control or quality assurance within a fabrication or manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of print reading, measuring tools, and inspection techniques
  • Working knowledge of welding principles, fabrication methods, and structural components
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience
  • Ability to read a tape measures at least 1/16-inch increments
  • Strong documentation, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with production staff, supervisors, and management
  • Familiarity with applicable quality and industry standards preferred
  • Punctual
  • Effectively follow directions
  • Properly and accurately read a tape measure
  • Operate a crane for use in lifting materials and work items off of the tables
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work scheduled shifts
  • Ability to bend, stoop, sit, grasp with hands, feel texture with fingers, cling, walk, twist, stand, and work on concrete for up to twelve hours per day up to six (6) days per week
  • Ability to work at heights of greater than 6 feet on a regular basis/as work dictates
  • Ability to work overtime when necessary/required and with short notice
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions as job requires working inside and outside through the course of a single shift
  • Ability to work in the natural element of heat and cold (production facility is not heated in winter nor cooled in summer)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise all Quality Control activities across production facilities
  • Directly manage and support QC Persons in Darlington and Florence
  • Ensure all fabricated products meet company standards, drawings, and work order requirements
  • Perform and oversee visual, dimensional, and functional inspections of materials and finished products
  • Review and interpret shop drawings, material lists, and specifications to verify compliance
  • Ensure welding procedures, fabrication methods, and assembly processes are followed correctly
  • Identify, document, and resolve quality issues, non-conformances, and process deficiencies
  • Coordinate Production, Detailing, and Management to implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Maintain accurate quality documentation, inspection records, and reports
  • Train, coach, and evaluate QC personnel to ensure skill development and consistent performance
  • Enforce safety, housekeeping, and quality standards within the Quality Control function
  • Assist with scheduling, prioritization, and workload planning to meet production deadlines
  • Serve as the primary quality point of contact for internal teams and external vendors as needed
  • Work overtime and perform hands-on inspection or production support when required
  • Other duties as assigned by Management
