About The Position

The Quality Control Manager is responsible for overseeing the Quality Control and Quality Assurance functions of an FAA Part 145 Repair Station that performs maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for commercial and U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) aircraft and components. The QC Manager ensures that all maintenance activities comply with FAA regulations, Repair Station Manual (RSM), AS9110, customer requirements, and applicable DoD contractual requirements.

Requirements

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate preferred.
  • Minimum 8–10 years aviation maintenance experience.
  • Minimum 3–5 years quality assurance or inspection experience in an FAA repair station environment.
  • Strong knowledge of 14 CFR Part 145 regulations.
  • Knowledge of aircraft maintenance documentation and inspection procedures.
  • Experience managing regulatory audits and compliance programs.
  • Proficient with Adobe, and Microsoft Office products to create, modify and update test and inspection documents, reports, charts, checklists, and databases.
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands, working at heights with fall protection devices.
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds and carry for short distances.
  • May be required to read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.
  • Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
  • May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, APU, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience implementing or managing Safety Management Systems (SMS) preferred.
  • Knowledge of FAA Order 8900.1 guidance related to repair stations preferred.
  • Experience working with DoD aviation maintenance programs preferred.
  • Previous experience as Chief Inspector or Quality Manager at a Part 145 repair station preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the repair station Quality Management System.
  • Ensuring compliance with AS9110 processes and procedures applicable to hangar.
  • Ensure proper implementation of inspection procedures, maintenance release procedures, and documentation requirements.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable DoD contract requirements including coordination with DCMA representatives, military quality representatives or government inspectors as well as supporting government audits and surveillance activities.
  • Supporting internal audit and surveillance program
  • Maintaining Inspection Program including: 1) Management and supervision of inspectors and quality personnel at hangar. 2) Keeping inspector authorization lists and qualification records current. 3) Ensuring inspectors are properly trained, qualified and authorized. 4) Ensuring proper use and calibration of inspection tools and test equipment. Inspections include: Receiving inspections In-process inspections Final inspections Return-to-service approvals
  • Documentation and Records Control Ensure proper completion and retention of required documentation including: FAA Form 8130-3 Authorized Release Certificates Maintenance records Inspection records Training records Calibration records Ensure records comply with FAA retention requirements.
  • Corrective and Preventative Actions o Investigate quality discrepancies and maintenance errors. o Lead root cause analysis and corrective action implementation. o Track and close quality findings and nonconformances
  • Safety Management System (SMS) o Support implementation and oversight of the Safety Management System. o Participate in safety risk assessments and hazard reporting programs. o Promote a safety culture within the repair station.
