We are actively searching for a Leadperson to join our Quality Control Department on our 1st Shift team with a start time of 6:00AM, Monday-Friday. The Quality Control Leadperson is responsible for daily planning, directing, training, implementation and general supervision of Plant Quality Control Inspectors with the exception of Lab personnel. Accountable to ensure proper personnel coverage of all areas of inspection, and to meet the above responsibilities while insuring conformance to safety standards. Accountable to maintain a demonstrated ability to perform all the functions/operations of QC Tech I, QC Tech II, and QC Tech III. Responsible and accountable to conduct his/her responsibilities within the confines of EEO, Title VII and other applicable laws.

Requirements

  • Qualified individual will have 5-8 years experience in a precast concrete environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Qualified individual must maintain PCI Level II certification as well as ACI Field Testing Technician Level I

Responsibilities

  • Have the demonstrated ability to adequately perform and maintain most all the skills listed on the Quality Control Skills Matrix. While continually working to refine skills and add others. The Quality Control Leadperson will proficiently maintain all prerequisites of the QC Tech I, QC Tech II and QC Tech III positional requirements.
  • Trains and develops new co-workers in the areas of on-the-job training, safety rules and regulations, and Company policies and procedures.
  • Assist Supervisor with training/cross training and development of co-workers for future advancement.
  • Provide input to Supervisor in planning manpower utilization within department with regard to co-worker skill level.
  • Direct crew’s daily activities when necessary to achieve planned production schedule by making decisions based on complexity of the job/product and input from the Supervisor. Responsibilities do not include hiring, firing, giving increases or providing discipline to crew members. Input, however, is given to the supervisor in all these areas.
  • Responsible for communication with crew members on a regular basis including but not limited to: conducting Tool Box Talks, MDI meetings, daily team stretching, etc.
  • Instills in his/her team members an attitude of safety awareness as it pertains to department, company, and corporate safety rules, regulations and procedures by demonstrating he/she can work in a safe manner on a continual basis, by following established procedures in the areas of safety/health ensuring the safety of his/her fellow co-workers is not jeopardized by their actions.
  • Maintains and submits on time, all records and reports necessary and/or assigned, including but not limited to: Cover sheets, print packages, stressing sheets, Etc.
  • Assists in performing daily pre-pour and post-pour inspections. As well as assist in the sample manufacturing process and any record keeping/documentation.
  • Work with engineering/drafting on more difficult drawings to reach the clearest most concise drawings possible for both production and Quality Control.
  • Accepts and commits to HCG’s concept of “Team” managing and works to enhance his/her performance not only as a Team Member, but as a Leadperson and encourages all others to be “Team” players.
  • Takes immediate corrective action within scope of assigned authority whenever productivity, quality and/or safety problems arise, keeping his/her Supervisor apprised of all such situations.
  • Provide regular, verbal and/or written co-worker performance updates to Supervisor and assist with annual performance appraisals.
  • Provide proposals recommending improvements to forming, process and/or plant operations to increase productivity, quality and/or safety to Supervisor.
  • Able and willing to adjust their shift/schedule as needed to ensure full departmental coverage of the plant.
  • Is committed to the Improvement Process and is a role model.
  • Maintain an understanding/working knowledge of the HCG evacuation plans/procedures.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with fellow co-workers.
  • Adhere to company policies pertaining to attendance and tardiness.
  • Maintain current and assist in development of future JSA(Job Safety Analysis)/SOP for all department functions and communicate same with co-workers.
  • Perform other job duties and assignments as required within scope of job responsibilities.
