About The Position

This Quality Control Intern position is within a team framework, where the intern, acting as a field technician, is responsible for implementing the QA/QC program for batching, mixing, and delivery of ready-mixed concrete. The primary purpose of this program is to ensure the concrete produced meets project specifications and customer expectations. The intern will follow daily direction from the Field Technician Supervisor. Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Must have a college degree or work towards one
Good oral/written communications skills
Ability to use a scientific calculator
Capable of making quick and responsible decisions in a fast-paced environment
Valid driver's license
ACI Field and State Plant and Field certifications or willing to attain after hired
Able to lift 100 lbs. and climb up and down the ready-mix trucks

Tech school graduate preferred

Responsibilities

Calibrate production and testing equipment.
Sample and test raw materials for specification compliance.
Perform QC tests for: entrained air content, slump/workability, coarseness/sandiness, yield, setting time, water-cement ratio and strength.
Record and report test results to dispatch, batch personnel and the customer.
Use test results to make mix adjustments.
Troubleshoot fresh/hardened concrete problems.
Conduct periodic informative programs for drivers, batch personnel, etc.
Compliance with job description addendum.
