As Stemilt’s Quality Control Intern, you’ll step into a hands‑on role supporting Raw Fruit Quality Control from day one—working alongside experienced industry leaders to evaluate fruit quality and analyze real‑time data that guides how cherries, apples, and pears move from orchard to table. You’ll collaborate with teams across growing, packing, shipping, and sales, gaining exposure to the full supply chain of a vertically integrated company. This position is based in Wenatchee, WA, with assignments in Pasco, Benton City, Yakima, or Mattawa, this role may also begin in Stockton, CA supporting the California cherry harvest. Housing is provided at satellite locations, and interns report directly to Quality Control Managers, with opportunities to grow into leadership responsibilities during the season. This isn’t just a summer job, it’s a launchpad for a career in food quality, agriculture, and operations!

Requirements

  • Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse group of people, including growers, truck drivers, administrative staff, field representatives, and production teams.
  • Comfort thriving in a fast‑paced, ever‑changing environment, with working conditions ranging from hot summer fields to cold fruit storage rooms.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively, taking initiative as a leader or contributing as a supportive team member.
  • Strong attention to detail with diligence in completing tasks and the ability to analyze large data sets.
  • Ability and willingness to quickly learn new technologies, software, and processes, with adaptability and on‑the‑job learning essential.
  • Flexibility with work schedule.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in the tree fruit or agricultural industry is a plus.
  • Spanish fluency is a plus but not required.
  • A desire to deliver an extraordinary experience at every interaction, in fact World Famous!

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate fruit quality using modern quality assessment tools, techniques, and technologies.
  • Communicate quality results and insights to production teams and field crews.
  • Support operational decision‑making by interpreting and applying quality indicators.
  • Assist with tracking and managing raw fruit inventory across receiving locations.
  • Provide leadership and direction to temporary crews of 3–8 employees.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support Quality Control operations.
